to main race page Mountain Regulations The mountain stage of An Turas Beag will be run and controlled by mountaineers, guides, instructors and rescue personnel under the overall co-ordinatior of the event; Con Moriarty. This stage follows the most rugged and preciptous mountain ridges in Ireland taking in check points at the major peaks; Check Points: 5 - An Ghraighin, 6 - An Chathair, 7 - Corrán Tuathail, 8 - Binn Chaorach, 9 - Cnoc Brinnea, 10 - Fiacail Mhor/Hag's Tooth, 11 - Com Caili. All participants are expected to complete the course without guidance. All participants in the stage will be required to take the "minimum mountain kit" outlined on this leg of the course: appropiate mountain footwear, wind/rain proof shell wear, gloves, hat, whistle, map, compass or GPS, necessary food and water,emergency shelter and abseil equipment. |
