| The Charities DEBRA Ireland A small charity with a big mission, DEBRA Ireland was founded in 1988 by parents of children with EB. EB or Epidermolysis Bullosa is a rare genetic disorder causing skin layers and internal body linings to separate and blister at the slightest touch. If you have seen the award winning documentary “The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off”, then you will have an understanding of this horrific and painful condition. For some children and adults, EB can lead to disability, deformity and skin cancer. For some babies EB is fatal. By taking part in this challenge you will help DEBRA Ireland fund essential nursing and support services to children and adults with EB. You will be giving hope to people who desperately need it. DEBRA Ireland, 3-4 Upper Pembroke Street, Dublin 2. Tel: 01 678 5044 / Web: www.debraireland.org Fighting Blindness Back in 1983 Irish families affected by retinal blindness grouped together to form Fighting Blindness. What began as a support group with no idea of a solution evolved into a charity funding research looking for an ultimate cure. There is a cure for blindness. And it’s so close now that we can even start to imagine what it will look like. Our research teams here in Ireland are at the centre of what is one of the world’s great endeavours. People who support Fighting Blindness are literally making history, working towards consigning hereditary blindness to the history books. People we call Visionaries. Visionaries think the impossible, they are the people who make the difference. We want you to become a visionary through your participation in this challenge. Fighting Blindness, 1 Christchurch Hall, High Street, Dublin 8. Tel: 01 709 3050 / Web: www.fightingblindness.ie |
