to main race page Specific Abseil Regulations The abseil stage of An Turas Beag will be run and controlled by Mike O'Shea and professionals from Irish Rope Access & Safety Consultants and Work-At-Height Training. The 100m abseil will be made on 11mm low-stretch work/rescue/caving ropes. All abseilers will use UIAA approved equipment on the abseil; sit harness, helmet, large screwgate karabiners and figure-of-eight descenders (Belay plate-type devices will not be allowed for descending). Abseil equipment must be carried from the start of the race. All abseilers should be appropriately trained in the skills of rope descending in exposed environments and are advised to have prior experience of a long abseil. The Mountain & Abseil Stages will finish at the Check Point 11 at the Ford in Com Caili/Hag's Glen the start of the final Mountain Biking stage. |
